Who is a good candidate for vaginoplasty?

Dr. Kim determines if you’re a good candidate for vaginoplasty after a consultation and thorough examination. You may be considering the procedure if you feel that your vagina is loose or lacks tone, which may occur after having children. Vaginal laxity may also occur as you get older when your hormone levels begin to change.

Vaginoplasty may also be recommended to correct birth defects, such as a malformed or absent vagina or to repair damage to your genitalia caused by childbirth or trauma.

What can I expect during vaginoplasty?

Dr. Kim performs vaginoplasty at the office using a diode laser. The laser energy heats the deep layers of your vaginal tissue, which helps to thicken and tighten the vaginal tissue. The procedure is relatively painless and takes only a few minutes.

You should be able to resume your usual activities after treatment. Dr. Kim will provide instructions on what you may need to avoid following your vaginoplasty, which may include intercourse and the use of tampons.

You may need up to four treatments set at two- to three-week intervals to get the desired results. Dr. Kim will provide you with an individualized treatment plan for your vaginoplasty so that you know what to expect before you begin.
